A meeting took place today between Lille and Paulo Fonseca during which the coach was offered a new contract by the club, according to a report.

Last night Fonseca’s Lille conceded in the 93rd minute against Nice to draw 2-2, throwing away what would have been direct qualification for the Champions League. Brest finished third and will go straight into the group stage instead.

Lille will have to go through the qualification phase in order to reach the top competition in Europe which has taken a bit of the shine off what has been a very positive season otherwise, but there is a big question mark hanging over them.

Fonseca’s contract runs out at the end of next month which means they are unable to really plan for the future at present. However, according to what is being reported by MilanNews, a meeting between the Portuguese coach and Lille took place today .

During the discussions, the French club explained their intentions to the former Roma boss, including a proposal for a new contract given that the current one expires on June 30th. Fonseca listened to Lille’s proposal with interest and will make a decision over the next few days, while Milan wait.
